The Clare is a high-rise luxury senior independent living community situated on the Loyola University Chicago Water Tower Campus in the heart of downtown Chicago. Novak served as General Contractor for multiple remodel projects for floors 9, 10, 12, 17, 53 and 19, including the conversion of existing Independent Living units into Assisted Living units and a memory care unit. A remodel of the ground floor lobby included the installation of a new revolving entry door, marble flooring, decorative glass paneling and millwork, and a new fire alarm control panel. A remodel of the 19th and 53rd floor multi-purpose rooms included new food service stations, as well as audio-visual equipment. Other projects were the 17th floor art room remodel and 9th floor bistro build-out of the existing curtain wall, new MEPFP systems, food service equipment and custom-made tile flooring. All of these projects were completed in an occupied space with minimal disruptions to residents and staff.
If Novak’s vision is to exhibit professionalism, knowledge and organization, then they have achieved that. From the start, the scope of work was handled in a timely and efficient manner, and the project management team represented that very well. The due diligence is outstanding and everything from the RFIs, RFPs, change orders and directions to the other players – all handled superbly. Our project, and construction in general, could be perceived as hectic, but Novak is flexible and able to work with all the different disciplines and players (consultants, architects). From estimating through to completion – the forecasting and value-added measures provided us with results that exceeded our expectations. You are a good fit for us.
